TORONTO, Jun. 20, 2018– For the last 10 years, the RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards have highlighted stories of Canadian immigrants who have demonstrated incredible contributions and achievements in Canada. Last night, during the awards ceremony, Kundan Joshi, founder and CEO of TheAppLabb, was awarded the 2018 RBC Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award.
Since its inception, Canadian Immigrant has celebrated the accomplishments of all immigrants in Canada, including community advocates, volunteers, successful entrepreneurs and cultural icons. Hundreds of nominations are received, from which 25 finalists are shortlisted by a diverse judging panel of past winners.
Amongst the list of Top 25 Award Winners is an Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner. The recipient is an entrepreneur who has made positive contributions through their business in Canada.
This year’s Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, Kundan Joshi, is no exception to the rule. His outstanding work in the world of Canadian business includes the Toronto Innovation event held last year to create awareness of the tech innovation scene in Toronto. In addition, Kundan is on the board of Peel Colleges to support and advocate for the study of STEM subjects in schools.
Part of winning the RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award, RBC donates $500 to a charity on behalf of each winner. Kundan has chosen to donate $500 to Indspire, a national Indigenous-led charity that invests in the education of Indigenous people.
