With not even two weeks left until New Years, we at TheAppLabb are scratching our heads at how another year has lapsed so quickly. But, as they say, time flies when you’re having fun.
The technology sector is like no other; everyday there is turbulence, innovation and problem solving. The tools and practices you were using yesterday must adapt for today. The issues you face require new modes of thinking to work around them. The ideas clients bring to us are radical shots in the dark; all the research and due diligence in the world can’t tell you if a brand new concept will be a success or failure.
By far the best determinant of success is solving the problems of others. Not your own problems, and not your company’s problems. Other people’s problems. And there are no shortage of problems in the world to be solved. Thanks in large part to technology, people are more socially conscious and actionate than ever before. Individuals and entities are more empowered to make positive change in the world, thanks to technology’s ability to proliferate information and bring like-minded people together.
Going into 2019, TheAppLabb is undertaking an exciting initiative: ChangeLabb.
True to our think tank style, we came up with another “labb” to fall under TheAppLabb umbrella. The ChangeLabb is a branch of our app development company in Canada where project leaders can apply to receive assistance with socially oriented projects. We are accepting applications for projects impacting any one of the following areas:
- Environmentalism
- Healthcare
- Education
How It Works
Example:
Rhonda is an entrepreneur looking to build an app that helps people monitor their daily carbon emissions. She has some funding, but not enough to finance an app at full cost. She sends an email to applications@changelabb.com, outlining her idea, her timeline for completion and her budget.
TheAppLabb evaluates the merits of her project and approves her for the ChangeLabb incubation program. A project proposal is drafted, detailing the full scope of work. Rhonda receives a payment schedule for her own financial contribution to the project, which will be matched 100% by TheAppLabb.
TheAppLabb’s Sponsorship
TheAppLabb does not match financial investment in a project. Instead, we offer consultation and services equal to our client’s funding. If a client has $50, 000 to front their project, we will provide technology services worth $50, 000. The client essentially receives double the product for half the price. This means more complicated features can be added to the app, more design work can be done, and more support can be offered post-launch.
We’re beyond excited to take on more projects focused on areas that do the world good. It’s important to walk the walk if you’re going to talk the talk. The world can’t wait for companies to take action, so TheAppLabb is making our time now.
We’d like to thank our clients, partners and supporters for a banner 2018. We’ve been humbled by the trust and recognition given to us; as much as we’ve grown in the past year, we know we’ll only push further in the next.
Goodbye, 2018. You’ve been great. Now, we set our sights on 2019!
